Medications Approved for Use During Pregnancy
You may take the following medications at anytime of your pregnancy without prior approval by your OB doctor. Take the medications as directed on the package regardless of pregnancy precautions. All medications listed can be used while breast feeding. Nausea: ½ of a 25mg Unisom tablet & 25mg Vitamin B6
Sinus Symptoms/Allergies:
1st
Trimester – Benadryl, Claritin,
Guaifenisin, Saline Mist Nasal Spray
Cough or Minor Sore Throat: Robitussin (Plain or DM), Guaifenesin (Musinex), Cloraseptic throat spray, Throat Lozenges
Headache /
Body Aches:
1st Trimester , Tylenol
/ Acetaminophen Extra Strength
MAXIMUM 6
pills PER DAY Regular Strength Tylenol TWO every 4 hours
After
1st Trimester, may take Extra
Strength Tylenol Two tablets
Every 8
Hours Upset Stomach/Heartburn/: Mylanta, Tums, Maalox, Gaviscon, Riopan, Pepcid AC,
Gas
Zantac 75 or Tagamet HB. (Liquid or
Tablet), Mylicon 80, Phazyme
Diarrhea:
Clear liquids for 24 hrs, Imodium AD or
Kaopectate
Constipation: Miralax, Colace, Metamucil, Milk of Magnesia, Citrucel, Fibercon Hemorrhoids: Anusol HC, Preparation H,Tucks Medicated Pads, Warm Soak Baths
Lice:
Nix Sleep Aid: Benadryl, Ambien

Feeding: Amoxicillin, Augmentin, Keflex, Tylenol with Codeine, Zithromax, Ventolin (Proventil) Inhalers, Zyrtec, Claritin & Claritin D, Novacaine (At Dentist Office)
